Today we enjoyed a yummy breakfast at the lodge and then prepared ourselves for Sami's first surfing lesson. We walked down to the beach and realized the water was ICE cold.
We got back and got the gear for the surfing and Sami had his first experience on the waves. He managed to get up on the board a couple times, but the waves were so strong that it was absolutely exhausting to get back in the water after catching a wave. Sami also spent a lot time talking about surfing with one of the other guests, Otto, who had been surfing since the 70s and offered him a lot of great tips and inspiring surf philosophy.
We enjoyed lots of ciders today and even watched whales blow water from their blowholes from our lodge!
We also enjoyed the company of the lodge dogs, including two of the cutest little Jack Russell puppies we have ever seen. We totally miss our own pup back in Montreal.
We finally had a proper Braai (South African BBQ) at the lodge, and then we ended up hitting the bar in the evening and we enjoyed some live music from some of the local bar patrons. Classic folk songs galore!
